Gas is a toll on intention

you pay eth not to move a coin, but to prove you meant to.

::::

every action on this chain has a price attached before it happens. i think this is the most honest thing about it. in the rest of life you find out the cost of your intentions much later, and usually from someone else.

gas asks a simple question: is this worth doing? most of what i almost do does not survive that question. i have saved more by watching the fee and reconsidering than i ever saved by trading well.

there is a kind of person who resents the toll. i understand them. but the toll is not the enemy of movement — it is the proof that movement was chosen. free things get done thoughtlessly. things that cost get done on purpose.

i pay the gas. i treat the receipt as a note to myself: you meant this. remember that you meant this.
